Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, what assessment he has made of trends in the level of hospital admissions for asthma among children.

Answer

The following table shows the finished admission episodes of 0-17-year olds who had a primary diagnosis of asthma, over the last five years. The table refers to activity in English National Health Service hospitals and English NHS commissioned activity in the independent sector.

Note:

Inpatients are patients who are admitted to hospital and occupy a bed, including both admissions where an overnight stay is planned and day cases. Admissions do not represent the number of patients, as a person may have more than one admission within the period.
