PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Business: Electricity (10 January 2020)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what support is available to commercial businesses not currently on the electricity grid to gain access to it.

Asked by:
Mr Richard Holden (Conservative)

Answer

Electricity network companies provide information and advice to support those seeking a connection to their networks including guidance documents, connection surgeries and online connection applications. When connecting to the electricity distribution network, customers (including commercial businesses), are required to pay the costs of connecting to the existing network. However, any further network reinforcement costs to accommodate the connection are shared with all network users in the area.
