Sri Lanka: Chevening Scholarships Programme (30 October 2019)

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, how many applications were received by the British High Commission in Sri Lanka for the Chevening scholarship; and what criteria were used to evaluate the applicants in 2018-19.

For the 2018/19 application cycle, the UK received a total of 275 applications from Sri Lanka for the Chevening scholarship, of which 220 were eligible. Applications are evaluated against the four Chevening global assessment criteria of leadership and influencing, building networks, studying in the UK, and future career plans.
