Food Supply: Ilford North (30 September 2019)

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster and Minister for the Cabinet Office, when he plans to provide a substantive answer to Question 286311, tabled on 3 September 2019 by the hon. Member for Ilford North.

If we have to leave with no deal, there will not be an overall shortage of food in the UK. Consumers have access to a wide range of food products when they shop and this will continue once we leave the EU.

As a responsible Government, we are preparing for the possibility of no-deal and have put in place plans to minimise disruption for the food and farming sector as much as possible.

Whilst the capability to ensure resilience and security of food supply is industry-led, Government has well established ways of working with the food industry to minimise potential disruption, including liaison through the Food Chain Emergency Liaison Group (FCELG).
