Applicants to the Education Mental Health Practitioner training programme were asked to be able to demonstrate the ability to study at university undergraduate degree level as a minimum. A previous degree was not a minimum requirement, and applicants to the course were able to enter at two different levels:

- Level 6 Undergraduate - the student will not require a degree to enter/ study on the programme at this level; and

- Level 7 Postgraduate – the student will require a degree (or evidence of study at this level) to enter/study on the programme at this level.
