PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
National Holocaust Memorial Centre and Learning Service (2 April 2019)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, if he will make it his policy to consult the public before allowing part of Victoria Tower Gardens to be used for the Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre.

Asked by:
Sir Edward Leigh (Conservative)

Answer

The Government decided to locate the Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre in Victoria Tower Gardens so that the view of Parliament from the Memorial will serve as a permanent reminder that political decisions have far-reaching consequences. A public consultation is currently being undertaken by Westminster City Council on the planning proposals put forward to build the Holocaust Memorial in Victoria Tower Gardens.
