PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Immigration Controls: Commonwealth (18 February 2019)

Question Asked

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, if he will introduce priority passport checking gates for citizens entering the UK from (a) Australia, (b) New Zealand and (c) other Commonwealth realms.

Asked by:
Sir John Hayes (Conservative)

Answer

The Government has already announced that, from this summer, nationals of Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Singapore as well as those from Japan, South Korea and USA will be permitted to use our ePassport gates when crossing the UK border.

The enabling legislation has recently completed its passage through Parliament and the change is on track to be implemented as planned.
