PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION
Offences against Children: Prosecutions (7 January 2019)

Question Asked

To ask the Attorney General, how many cases of sexual abuse of children by sports coaches are currently being prosecuted.

Asked by:
Dr Rosena Allin-Khan (Labour)

Answer

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) does not maintain a central record of defendants who are, or who were, sports coaches. This information could only be obtained by examining CPS case files, which would incur disproportionate cost.
