PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
Use of Animals in Alcohol Experiments (28 March 1990)
Motion Details
That this House is deeply concerned by the failure of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 to prevent the use of animals in alcohol experiments; notes that during 1988, 4,313 animals were used for this purpose, despite the well-known damaging effects of alcohol and the availability of human biopsy and autopsy specimens for further study; and calls upon the Secretary of State for the Home Department to cease the granting of further licences for alcohol experiments and to put a time limit on the existing licences for the same purposes.
