PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
North East Thames Regional Health Authority (28 March 1990)
Motion Details
That this House deplores the less-than-inflation National Health Service cash allocation announced by the North East Thames Regional Health Authority for 1990-91; notes that only 6 per cent. has been allowed for the inflation costs of health services and staff; regards that as woefully inadequate as inflation is already higher than that, set to reach 10 per cent. by the summer, and health service inflation is in any case higher than normal inflation; notes that the region's director of finance has stated that this cash allocation has to meet any unforseen costs as well as pay and price rises; considers that this new unreal allocation in conjunction with the already colossal debts of district health authorities can only mean substantial cutbacks in patient care and treatment; and concludes this Tory financial straitjacket on the National Health Service to be most unhealthy.
