PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
MADAME AUNG SAN SUU KYI (17 July 1994)

Motion Details

That this House calls upon the Burmese military regime to end, without delay, the detention order, now entering its fifth year, imposed without charge or trial, upon Nobel Peace-prize winner Madame Aung San Suu Kyi; and further calls upon the State Law and Order Restoration Council to respond positively to the repeated calls of the UNHRC to improve human rights in Burma and to enter into a dialogue with the democratic forces in Burma, led by Madame Aung San Suu Kyi, thus expediting not only democracy but also the will of the Burmese people as expressed by the General Election results of 1990.
