PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
Nelson Mandela's Appeal for Peace in Ireland and the Convening of a Round Table Conference (3 July 1990)

Motion Details

That this House warmly welcomes the statements made by Nelson Mandela in Dublin and London, in which he called for talks to take place designed to end the war in Ireland; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to convene a round table conference to which all representative organisations and individuals in the Republic and the North would be invited, to prepare the way for a peace settlement that would provide for the ending of British jurisdiction, and permit the people of Ireland to determine their own future, under a constitution decided by them.
