PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
SPORT AND TELEVISION (17 May 1992)
Motion Details
That this House deplores the new contract signed by the Football Premier League which restricts live television coverage of matches to homes with satellite dishes, thus depriving the vast majority of the football watching public of their chance to see live matches on their sets; notes that this continues a trend set by the World Cup Cricket competition which was also largely kept off main British television channels; and condemns the swamping of the concept of public service broadcasting by narrow commercial interests.
