PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
SHOPS (AMENDMENT) BILL (11 May 1992)

Motion Details

That this House recognises that Britain's Sunday trading laws have come into question in connection with Article 30 of the Treaty of Rome; believes that, when the European Court has given a judgement, this House should be given the opportunity to consider the issue again; recalls that the Shops (Amendment) Bill received massive all-party support when put to the vote on 22nd January this year; and urges the Government, amongst the other measures to be laid before the House in this session, itself to introduce legislation to modernise the Sunday trading laws modelled on the Bill already shown to command broad and substantial parliamentary support.
