PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
CRUELTY OF WHALING (6 May 1992)
Motion Details
That this House notes with concern that great cruelty is involved in the slaughter of whales; is appalled that harpooned whales can often take a considerable time to die; believes that as it is not possible to slaughter whales humanely the ban on commercial whaling should be extended indefinitely; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to take the lead in urging all other delegations at the June 1992 meeting of the International Whaling Commission in Glasgow to agree to a permanent ban on whaling and to extend that protection to dolphins and porpoises.
