INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE MIDWIFE (5 May 1992)
Motion Details
That this House draws the attention of the Government to the International Day of the Midwife on 5th May to recognise the highly skilled work of midwives in the United Kingdom and throughout the world, to publicise that half a million women die in pregnancy and childbirth each year and to call for international co-operation to improve the number of qualified midwives so that the level of maternal deaths can be halved by the year 2000.
