CHRISTIAN AID `WHO RUNS THE WORLD?' CAMPAIGN (18 July 1994)

Motion Details

That this House congratulates Christain Aid on the launch of the campaign, Who Runs the World? on the 50th anniversary of the Bretton Woods conference; welcomes the Declaration for Change of the World Bank and the IMF signed by leaders of the All Africa Conference of Churches, the Christian Conference of Asia, and the Caribbean Conference of Churches; and endorses their call for relief of debts owed to multilateral institutions, the democratisation and increased accountability of these institutions, and the replacement of structural adjustment programmes with policies and projects which meet the needs of the poor and promote sustainable, participtory and equitable development.
