PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
THIRD WORLD DEBT (13 July 1992)

Motion Details

That this House notes that for every ú5 received in aid by Africa, ú6 is given back to the donor countries; whilst welcoming the Trinidad Terms, further notes that they have been applied to only a few countries in a diluted way; therefore calls upon her Majesty's Government, prior to Zambia's meeting with her creditors at the Paris Club, to consider rescheduling or cancelling bilateral debts with that country, which has fulfilled all the aid conditions set out by the United Kingdom, and so demonstrate in earnest its good intent and its determination to see Zambian children fed, clothed and educated instead of spending such money on debt repayment.
