PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
TRANSPORTING FOOD ANIMALS (5 July 1992)
Motion Details
That this House congratulates Liverpool University Faculty of Veterinary Science and the British Veterinary Association for organising a petition within the veterinary profession on the transportation of food animals; further recognises the high degree of support for the petition within the profession; calls on the Government to resist any dilution of British standards for transportation and in particular to resist the current Council Directive which if implemented would unnecessarily cause suffering to animals; and believes that the ultimate aim should be to reduce the maximum transport time to eight hours.
