Union Recognition in Publishing (20 June 1990)
Motion Details
That this House is concerned at the increasing efforts by newspaper, magazine and other publishers to withdraw recognition unilaterally from National Union of Journalists chapels and put journalists on individual contracts; is concerned that this deprives individuals of their right to representation by their union and to collective bargaining; and welcomes the National Union of Journalists Day of Action called for 27th June in protest at the derecognition actions of employers such as the Aberdeen Press and Journal, Pergamon, Essex Chronicle and VNU.
