BREAKING OF THE IMPASSE IN SOUTH AFRICA (29 June 1992)
Motion Details
That this House calls on Her Majesty's Government as President of the European Council to launch an immediate initiative designed to break the current deadlock in the political negotiations in South Africa by promoting a visit to South Africa by the EC troika to urge the South African Government to prevent politically motivated violence by elements of the security forces or from whatever sources, investigating impartially all incidents and punishing those responsible, to take a more constructive position in the negotiations, particularly with regard to the interim government and minority veto, and to respond positively to calls for an active role for the international community, including the sending of observers and monitors to those areas affected by the violence.
