PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
BADGER CULLING (29 June 1992)
Motion Details
That this House notes that the declaration of 1991 as the Year of the Badger by the then Home Office Minister, the honourable Member for Mitcham and Morden, seems rather ironic given that the as yet unproven strategy of badger culling continues in the United Kingdom; notes that this is despite the fact that no formal scientific assessment has so far been instigated by a Government department; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to heed the voices of animal welfare and other conservation bodies, and to impose an immediate moratorium on expensive, pointless, cruel and unnecessary badger culling.
