PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
DISABILITY LIVING ALLOWANCE UNIT (28 June 1992)
Motion Details
That this House deplores the fact that the Disability Living Allowance Unit is so under-resourced that telephone queries are liable to meet engaged lines constantly and continuously for days on end with, for example, one honourable Member's office having telephoned 20 times over two days with no success; notes that, given that many claimants will not have the relative ease of access to a telephone as honourable Members' offices, this represents a deplorably bad service; and calls on the Citizen's Charter to be amended to enable claimants to claim compensation if the processing of their claims, or reviews of claims for benefits, are not carried out within the Government's target periods.
