PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
PROMOTION OF ABORTION BY BRITISH GAS PLC (28 June 1992)
Motion Details
leave out from 'notes' to end and add 'that the anti-abortion lobby has sought to attack the magazine Girl Talk, and, via its financial support of that magazine, British Gas plc, for providing comment and information about abortion services and unwanted pregnancy; further notes that companies and organisations provide financial and other support to a wide range of social and cultural activities and publications; applauds such public-spirited action; deplores the efforts of the anti-abortion lobby to seek to persuade sponsoring organisations to exert financial pressures in order to suppress views which are not to its taste; and believes that initiatives by magazines such as Girl Talk to give young women information about their bodies and the legal options open to them in the event of an unwanted pregnancy should be encouraged and not suppressed.'.
