PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
SCHOOL PLAYING FIELDS (28 June 1992)

That this House shares the Government's concern about the disposal by public authorities of land used for playing fields, including school playing fields, which could be of use to the community; joins with the Government in asking local education authorities not to dispose of school playing fields for redevelopment unless they have first investigated and established, in consultation with the local planning authority and taking account of any relevant policies in the local plan, that the playing fields will not be required in the long term for school or community use; and calls upon the Government to intervene to prevent disposal of school playing fields where it has not been established that the playing fields will not be required in the long term for school or community use.
