Redundancy of Seddons Factory Workers (19 June 1990)
Motion Details
That this House expresses grave concern about the loss of over 1000jobs as a result of the clothing manufacturing company, James Seddon (UK) Ltd. going into receivership; supports the efforts of the workforce, the National Union of Tailors and Garment Workers, the Scottish Trades Union Congress, Central Regional Council and Falkirk District Council in their campaign to get the factories back into operation; deplores the inaction of Her Majesty's Government in this respect; and demands that the Secretary of State for Scotland take urgent action by using every available means to re-open the factories and save as many jobs as possible.
