PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
MINERS SUFFERING WITH BRONCHITIS & EMPHYSEMA (26 October 1992)
Motion Details
That this House calls upon Her Majesty's Government to immediately publish and act upon the recommendations of the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council's Report which examined whether or not miners suffering from either bronchitis or emphysema should be recognised for industrial injury compensation; feels that any delay in implementation of the report's findings cannot be justified, especially as past governments' practice has always been to accept this body's recommendations on issues of this kind; and calls upon the President of the Board of Trade to denounce the content and tenor of the recently leaked Department of Trade and Industry memo on this issue, which sought to advise on possible government approaches to delay the publication and implementation of the report's findings.
