PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
CAMPAIGN FOR COLD WEATHER CREDITS (21 October 1992)
Motion Details
That this House notes the Department of Health has launched its winter warmth telephone line on 22nd October; further notes that the majority of people who contact these lines are requesting help with fuel costs or with insulation, neither of which the Department of Health provide; concludes that the Government has failed, is failing and will fail to combat the effects of winter cold on vulnerable people; and calls on the Government to support the campaign for cold weather credits and stop the avoidable growth in additional winter deaths, which increased by a further 2 per cent. in 1991-92.
