PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
DISMISSAL OF MR STUART INGHAM, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF UNITED LEEDS TEACHING HOSPITALS TRUST (23 September 1992)
Motion Details
That this House, noting that Mr Stuart Ingham, the Chief Executive of the United Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, has misled members of the public by stating that the inquiry held in 1989 into allegations made by Dr Chris Chapman was conducted by Coopers & Lybrand; further noting that Coopers and Lybrand have denied taking part in any independent inquiry in 1989, calls upon the Secretary of State to dismiss Mr Ingham for his lack of integrity and for misleading the public, and to reinstate Dr Chris Chapman, who until July 1992 was employed as a senior biochemist at the Leeds General Infirmary; and recognises that Dr Chapman was dismissed because he had the courage and the integrity to draw attention to fraud and irregularities at the Leeds General Infirmary.
