PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN (23 November 1992)

Motion Details

That this House notes that violence against women takes many physical, sexual and psychological forms, including wife abuse, battering, dowry-related violence, female genital mutilation, illegal trafficking in women, marital rape, rape, sexual harrassment, pornography and prostitution; acknowledges that women are entitled to equal enjoyment and protection of all human rights including freedom from violence in all its forms; concludes that equality of opportunity necessitates the Government eliminating discrimination against women by taking all effective measures available to overcome all forms of gender based violence and sexual exploitation; and calls for this action in solidarity with women around the world who are marking 25th November as International Day Against Violence Against Women.
