PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
Welsh Water p.l.c. Appointment of Hon. Member for Delyn (12 June 1990)

That this House views with surprise and concern the appointment of the honourable Member for Delyn, a Conservative Member of Parliament, as public relations consultant to Welsh Water Plc.; considers both the offer of a contract and its acceptance equally bizarre, in view of the continued public controversy and unhappiness about the privatisation of the water industry; believes the appointment is particularly inappropriate in view of the sensitivity of the issue in Wales where the Labour Party's opposition to the water sell-off has massive public support; notes that the future of the water industry in Wales will continue to be a major issue until resolved by the next general election; and calls for the cancellation of the arrangement.
