PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
HOUGHTON MAIN AND GRIMETHORPE COLLIERIES (17 November 1992)
Motion Details
That this House deplores the decision by British Coal and the President of the Board of Trade in destroying the future of Houghton Main and Grimethorpe collieries, adding an additional 2 per cent. to an area of already devastating unemployment; notes that both these collieries are profit making; and, given their potential and their profitability, seeks a change of heart from both British Coal and the Government to ensure these collieries are reprieved and that these pits remain open.
