PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
FORD (UK) (11 November 1992)

Motion Details

That this House notes with extreme concern that Ford (UK) has reduced its total workforce from 76,000 to 44,000 between 1979 and 1992, and that a further reduction of more than 2,000 is sought; fears that reduction on this scale may not be achieved without compulsory redundancies and further that the survival of one of the Ford plants in the United Kingdom may be at risk; and calls upon the President of the Board of Trade to take urgent action to avert such a blow to the British vehicle construction industry.
