PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
ACCOUNTABILITY OF THE WORLD BANK (15 December 1992)
Motion Details
That this House notes that an internal World Bank report concluded that 35 per cent. of its projects are 'unsuccessful'; further notes that as a result of this high failure rate, British taxpayers could be throwing as much as ú50 million down the drain annually; believes that new British funding to the Bank's concessionary lending wing, the International Development Association, must be linked to greater accountability; and calls on the Government to ensure that this matter is pursued as a matter of urgency.
