PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
CLARKE FOODS (UK) LIMITED (15 December 1992)

That this House, regretting the closure of the Lyons Maid factories in Greenford and Kirkby with the loss of more than 200 jobs with no redundancy pay to the workers, notes the concern expressed in the Early Day Motions 711 and 746 about the business dealings of Clarke Foods (UK) Limited under the chairmanship of Henry D. Clarke Jnr; further notes reports that three firms in the United States, Clabir, Klondyke Ice Cream and General Defense Corporation, while under his chairmanship were also forced into massive debt and bankruptcy; and calls upon the Government to establish an inquiry into the business dealings of Clarke Foods (UK) Limited at the earliest possible opportunity.
