PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
MINERS' CHRISTMAS PAYMENTS (10 December 1992)
Motion Details
That this House notes that miners made to sign on each day in the 10 pits under short review are then sent home; recalls that the President of the Board of Trade publicly promised in the House that miners' benefits would not be affected during or after the review procedure; observes from a letter from the Minister for Energy to the honourable Member for Hemsworth that all responsibility for withholding the conciliation bonus and attendance allowances is thrown onto British Coal; is outraged at the callous action of British Coal; and calls upon the President of the Board of Trade to assert his authority and restore the bonus.
