PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
VOTER REGISTRATION IN MILTON KEYNES (24 February 1993)
Motion Details
That this House notes with concern the decision of the Liberal Democrat and Conservative administration in Milton Keynes to dispense with the house to house canvass for the preparation of the electoral register except in the year when a general election will be called; notes that it is both a breach of the Representation of the People Act not to conduct a house to house inquiry every year and that it is impossible to predict the date of the general election; calls on the Leaders of the Liberal Democrat and Conservative parties to condemn this blatant disregard of their democratic responsibilities by their councillors in Milton Keynes; and demands that the Home Secretary enforces the law forthwith.
