PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
Safety of British Airways Aircraft (5 June 1990)
Motion Details
That this House gives full support to the workers at Heathrow currently on strike and condemns British Airways for threatening its engineers and others to work 12 hour shifts with all the consequential safety implications; draws attention to the connivance of the Civil Aviation Authority with British Airways in allowing aircraft to fly in an unsafe condition because of non-regular personnel signing approvals and certificates after repair and maintenance; suggests that British Airways withdraws its threat to undermine the working conditions of its staff; and is alarmed that the Government and Civil Aviation Authority are allowing aircraft on domestic and international routes to be maintained by a small group of management which, if it continues, will put the lives of British Airways passengers at risk until the dispute is resolved.
