OVERSEAS HOLIDAY ACCOMMODATION AND FACILITIES AND UK SAFETY STANDARDS (9 February 1993)
Motion Details
That this House notes that four year old Steven Clancy suffered brain damage last summer in Spain when he was injured in a dirty and unsafe swimming pool in the Martinique Apartments on Majorca; deplores the failure of the travel companies to ensure that the holiday accommodation and facilities they use meet United Kingdom safety standards; calls on the President of the Board of Trade to seek assurances from all tour operators that all foreign holiday accommodation and facilities used by them meet United Kingdom safety standards; and further requests the Foreign Secretary to make representations to the Spanish Government about victims of dangerous holiday facilities such as Steven.
