PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
LONDON BOROUGH OF REDBRIDGE (2 February 1993)
Motion Details
That this House notes that the Conservative controlled Council of the London Borough of Redbridge has cut its forecast spending for 1993-94 by ú3 million in order to meet the Government target and avoid being capped; deplores the decision by Redbridge Council Education Committee to cut education spending on 1st February by ú1.578 million, including cuts in support for student discretionary awards, reduction in support for the Borough's music service, cuts in staffing for an unemployment project, and increases in fees for adult education; further deplores the already announced closure of the Borough's Disability Advice Centre; and recognises that this is yet another example of uncaring Tory councils carrying out the dictates of a bankrupt and incompetent Conservative Government.
