PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
REORGANISATION OF ILKESTON SECONDARY SCHOOLS (26 March 1993)

Motion Details

That this House expresses its outrage at the failure of Derbyshire County Council to implement in full the promised re-organisation of Ilkeston secondary schools; notes that having published proposals to close one secondary school and re-direct the pupils to three other schools in the town, Derbyshire County Council applied to the Department for Education for ú8 million to undertake the necessary work on the three schools and was granted this money; expresses its greatest possible concern that Derbyshire County Council is now spending less than half of this money on the schools for which it is was intended; and demands that Derbyshire County Council honours its commitment to the schools, parents and children of Ilkeston.
