CONDUCT OF THE PARLIAMENTARY UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR EDUCATION, THE HON MEMBER FOR MID-WORCESTERSHIRE (9 March 1993)
Motion Details
That this House notes that the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State, the honourable Member for Mid-Worcestershire, accused Hammersmith and Fulham Education Department of producing 'disgraceful material' on grant maintained status for schools, Official Report, 10th November 1992, column 835, was then unable to substantiate that accusation and was asked to apologise on 17th November and has consistently failed to answer letters promptly or to apologise; notes that children cannot be expected to learn politeness and efficiency if the Parliamentary Under Secretary sets such a bad example; and therefore calls upon him to apologise to parents, teachers, children and the local education authority for his needlessly offensive comments or to resign if he is incapable of acting like a mature and responsible adult.
