PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
MANAGEMENT OF THE BBC (8 March 1993)
Motion Details
That this House expresses its concern at the complete public disregard being shown by the BBC's top management in making profound changes to the structure of the Corporation; expresses alarm at the statement by the Director-General of the BBC on 2nd February, that in respect of both resource provision and programme making he would only be concerned if the proportion provided by the BBC in-house fell below 50 per cent. of the total; deplores the likely 6,000 redundancies that will result from such policies; and calls upon the BBC to stop pre-empting the public debate on the Corporation's future and to suspend the introduction of the policy of producer choice.
