PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
GOVERNMENT HEALTH POLICY (3 March 1993)
Motion Details
That this House deplores the double standards in this Government's attitude to the NHS in increasing prescription charges, equipment charges and maximum dental charges by over 13 per cent., while enforcing 1.5 per cent. as the maximum pay increase for the doctors, nurses, ambulancemen and auxiliary staff in the National Health Service; and requests the health ministers who came up with these contradictory proposals for income generation on the one hand and salary bills expenditure on the other to rethink their proposal, to establish a 1.5 per cent. increase in prescription charges in 1993-94 with a view to preventing a further decrease of NHS staff morale and an increase in staff cynicism about health ministers' motives.
