PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
Anzac Day 2023 (25 April 2023)

Motion Details

That this House celebrates Anzac Day 2023, a day of national remembrance in Australia and New Zealand, that commemorates all Australians and New Zealanders who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations; notes the acronym ANZAC, which stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps; highlights that it has been 108 years since Australian and New Zealand soldiers first landed at Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey during WWI and that the Anzacs were defeated after eight months, having suffered great hardships and mass casualties; further highlights that their bravery has become an enduring symbol of military sacrifice; underlines the services and memorials that take place all over Australia and New Zealand and that more than a million people camp on sleeping bags and beanies on Anzac Cove in Gallipoli; and thanks all service personnel for their stellar efforts during the War and that their memory will be celebrated each year on Anzac Day.
