PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
FUNDING TO AIDS/HIV CHARITIES (3 May 1993)
Motion Details
That this House is appalled that the Department of Health are to cut grants to major AIDS charities by two thirds; notes that the pioneering and invaluable work of the voluntary sector groups have made a substantial contribution to the good news of relatively low rates of HIV and AIDS; believes that it is wrong to reduce the funding of the organisations which have established the education, understanding and preventative strategies which helped to sustain these low rates; and calls on the Secretary of State for Health to reject Treasury demands for cuts and reinstate the funding in full immediately.
