PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
25TH ANNIVERSARY OF ABORTION ACT 1967 (25 April 1993)
Motion Details
That this House notes that 27th April marks the 25th anniversary of the implementation of the Abortion Act 1967; also notes that before abortion was legalised about 40 women each year died as a result of back-street abortion; endorses and supports the provisions of the Abortion Act 1967 which fundamentally extended women's reproductive choice; and calls for an extension of this choice by ensuring the NHS medical abortion services are developed country-wide to allow women with an unwanted pregnancy a safe and legal method of abortion.
