Zero-tolerance drink-drive limit (5 January 2022)

Motion Details

That this House notes that according to Brake, the road safety charity, 188 people are killed and more than 1,250 people are seriously injured in drink-drive related crashes in England and Wales every year on average; further notes that December and August are the worst months for drink-drive crashes and that between 2012 and 2019 there were 46,860 drink-driving related crashes, causing 1860 deaths; notes that England and Wales have the highest drink-drive limits in Europe; and calls on the Government to support Brake’s Lower the Limit campaign and introduce a zero-tolerance drink-drive limit to reduce deaths and injuries, and to provide clarity in the law.
