PARLIAMENTARY EARLY DAY MOTION
SCHOOL NURSES (20 April 1993)
Motion Details
That this House notes with concern the reduction in the number of school nurses employed in the state education sector; deplores the fact that sixty-one per cent. of school nurses responding to a survey by the Royal College of Nursing said that local cuts and changes had affected the quality of care offered to school children; recognises the role of the school nurse as a key resource in the primary health care team and as an important contributor to the targets for health improvement set out in Health of the Nation; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Health to take steps to ensure that the number of school nurses is increased and that all health authorities ensure that every pupil has access to a named school nurse.
