Emma Raducanu, 2021 US Open women's champion (12 September 2021)

Motion Details

That this House is delighted, amazed and inspired by the performances of Emma Raducanu in winning the US Open without losing a set; notes that she is the first qualifier in the history of tennis to win a grand slam event; congratulates Emma and all those involved in her success; further notes that an estimated television audience of over 9.5 million watched Saturday's match; hopes that this success will inspire future generations of girls, boys and adults to take up tennis; and encourages the LTA, the Government and local tennis clubs to use this success to further drive up participation of this sport which can be enjoyed by people across the country regardless of age, sex or ability.
